Overseas Student Exhange Programme

◆ The story...

Travelling to Shanghai and Suzhou with my school opened my eyes to experiences I never thought I would have. From visiting industries and historical landmarks to spending a day in our partner school, every stop gave me a different glimpse into life in China

◆ Favourite moment:

My experience would not be nearly as fun and memorable if not for my student buddy from the school in Suzhou we visited. Even though we had only just met, we instantly hit it off. Joining their lessons and building a geography model together made me feel like I was actually part of the class. Their warmth and hospitality were what made the experience so memorable.

◆ What I learnt:

One of my biggest challenges was speaking in Chinese while presenting about Singapore to the students in that school. Although I was extremely nervous and had stage fright, I still managed to overcome those feelings and complete the presentation. This taught me that confidence isnt about getting everything exactly right, it's about having the courage to just try.

◆ Looking back...

OSEP became so much more than a school trip What I remembered most however, wasnt the landmarks we visited or even the shopping we did, but the conversations I had with people I met. This reminded me that sometimes, stepping out of our comfort zone is what leads to memorable experiences.
Financial Literacy Competition

◆ The story...

I first discovered about this competition when my POA teacher introduced it to us. I remembered enjoying playing the board game as it was one of our post exam activities in the previous semester so I decided to sign up for the regional training than later on, the national competition itself.

◆ Favourite moment:

One of the biggest surprise was me placing first in the regional training, getting the most number of points out of the 75+ people there and receieving a popular voucher. During the national competition, I even advanced to the finals which was something I did not expect which made the expierence even more rewarding.

◆ What I learnt:

The competition showed me that good financial decisions require careful planning, critical thinking and patience. It also taught me to stay focused under pressure and trust my own judgement when making decisions.

◆ Looking back...

This experience gave me the confidence to participate more because sometimes, trying something just because it looks fun can lead to an unexpected sense of victory.
Values In Action

◆ The story...

Althought in Sec 4, I wasnt a VIA Head anymore, it didnt stop me from contributing. I was one of the hosts/emcees for this event where we had invited elderlies to come to our school to play Chinese New Year themed games (since it was during the CNY period).

◆ Favourite moment:

Despite having a sore throat on that day and the classroom having no microphone to project my voice, I still managed to power through it all and give proper instructions and an overview to the elderlies. This made me feel a sense of accomplishment for sure.

◆ What I learnt:

One thing we didnt expect was for the elderlies to get through all the game booths in such a short amount of time. We did not have anything else planned for them other than the games so we had to improvise and in the end, we turned the remaining time into a karaoke session. This definitely reminded me that flexibility and adaptability in a plan is just as important as organisation and planning.

◆ Looking back...

Things wont always go according to plan but what matters is what we do to bounce back from our setbacks.
Earth Day

◆ The story...

As part of our school's Earth Day celebration, I, as well as three of my classmates, had to do a presentation on it. Together, the four of us shared the pros and cons of each energy source with a skit of us representing the energy sources.

◆ Favourite moment:

During the rehearsals when we were practising the script, my classmate, who was our co-scriptwriter, suddenly realised that we needed a skipping rope for one of our props. Everyone looked completely confused until she reminded us, "Guys, it's in the script!" It was a small but funny moment that made everyone crack up.

◆ What I learnt:

Speaking in front of the entire school really challenged me to overcome my stage fright. My Geography teacher had taken a video of our presentation and after watching it, I felt really proud of myself for being able to communicate clearly despite feeling incredibly nervous before assembly started.

◆ Looking back...

This presentation reminded me of this quote I heard in a movie where it was something along the lines of "if you are scared to do something, do it scared" and "if you wait until you are ready to do something, then you'll be waiting for the rest of your life. "
one Last Thing...

If you made it this far...
thank you for taking the time to explore my portfolio.

When I first started this project, I didnt even know what CSS was. Every page, animation and interactive element that you've seen was just me trying to put together all that Ive learnt from tutorials, trial and errors (including accidentally deleting my entire page...) and the COUNTLESS of google searches I went through. But looking back, Im glad I decided to challenge myself to do this instead of settling for a Google site or Canva slides. Building this portfolio has been one of my favourite part of this EAE journey ♡

I truly hope this portfolio made you smile at least once (and hopefully the certificate hunt back on the Awards & Achievements page wasnt too difficult😅) I also hope you had as much fun exploring as I had creating.

Thank you again for taking the time to explore my little corner of the internet. It genuinely means a lot.

Have a wonderful day ahead!
